Control submissions data retention

By Forminit in Changelog • Published August 31, 2026

Submission Retention is now available on all paid plans. Choose how long Forminit keeps each form’s submissions and uploaded files, and automatically delete them when the selected period ends.

It helps if you follow a data-minimization policy, need to meet the GDPR storage limitation principle, only care about recent leads, or run forms that collect sensitive information you would rather not store long term.

Submission retention options in the Forminit Create form dialog

New

  • Flexible retention periods: Keep submissions until manually deleted, choose 30, 90 or 365 days, or set a custom period
  • Existing and future submissions: The selected period applies to all submissions based on when they were received
  • Inbox and Trash: Retention applies to submissions in both folders
  • Uploaded files: Files associated with an expired submission are deleted with it
  • Deletion countdown: See how many days remain before a submission is scheduled for permanent deletion
  • Safe configuration changes: Forminit warns you before a shorter retention period makes existing submissions eligible for deletion

Spam submissions follow a separate retention rule and are permanently deleted after 30 days.

Submission Retention is available on the Pro plan and higher. Choose a retention period when creating a form or change it later from Form Settings.

See the Submission Retention documentation for more information.
